Opening Times (weather permitting)

Extended opening for Christmas & New Year holidays: 21 December to 3 January inclusive, except: closed 25 & 26 December

Autumn & Winter – November 1st to January 31st
The cave is open on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am. (Group bookings are still available seven days per week at this time of year.)
Spring & Summer – February 1st to October 31st
The cave is open every day, from 10am.
Admission Prices

Adult £9.95 adult is age 16 or older
Child £6.50 child is ages 3 to 15 – there is no charge for children under 3
Family £27.50 family is 2 adults + 2 children

Cave History
Somewhere near the end of the 18th century, a man named Francis Forster built a large house which he named Northumberland House after the county of his birth. Around 1798 his gardener, when digging behind the house, made the discovery of the Caves. A private entrance was cut and it was during this time that the cave murals were created. According to local folk-lore the pictures were painted by a local artist named Brazier
